Very nice, good value.
I was just at the LaresPark Hotel for 3 nights on business and found this hotel to be very nice and very good value for money. I paid 90 euros per night, not including breakfast for the most basic room which was not so basic at all. While you can probably find cheaper in Istanbul, it is seldom with all the facilities of a larger hotel such as this
The hotel is in a fantastic location - 3 minutes walk from Taksim Square . There are a number of similar hotels in this area and I understand they have all been renovated recently since 3 years ago when the group of streets was cleaned up and closed off to all but hotel traffic. The result is a very nice, clean, safe and attractive hotel enclave which I have to say is a real breath of fresh air in a city that can be chaotic. Taksim Square gives you access to all the restaurants and shops you need.
The hotel lobby is extremely attractive. and the whole hotel in general has a nice fresh air about it. Its only a relatively small hotel, but it has excellent facilities including a small gym, an indoor pool and of course a Turkish bath. There is also an Italian restaurant, but I didn't eat there.
The room itself was quite large, with a king size bed, a desk and 2 comfortable arm chairs. The room was spotlessly clean. The bathroom was small, and here was my only real gripe with the hotel. The shower was pretty terrible. The water temperature was impossible to control, ranging from freezing cold to scolding hot, and the shower head itself was new, but very poor quality and the water pressure was non existent. On the other hand, the room had all the little extras such as a bathrobe, slippers etc. There is also an LCD TV, but best of all, there is a very nice stereo system with the ability to plug a USB stick in, so I was able to listen to my tunes on a nice system instead of on my laptop speakers or my MP3 headphones. Its small things like this that really make a difference IMHO.
Bonus point for free wireless internet access throughout the hotel.
Breakfast was excellent. Plenty to choose from, a guy making omelets to order, lots of breads, fresh fruit, freshly squeezed orange and grapefruit juice, cereals, jams, pastries, etc. etc.
All in all I was very happy with the LaresPark and intend to stay there again when on business in Istanbul if the opportunity arises.
I had no problems at this hotel
Service by the restaurant waiters and bar staff and service was excellent. The breakfast included in my rate was exceptional with eggs prepared to order if requested.
It is located in a pedestrian section with the only vehicular traffic being taxis to the hotels and commercial deliveries. A friend on the 2nd floor said there was little street noise, even on the Republic Day national holiday when nearby Taksim Square was a festival madhouse and fireworks over the Bosporus.
I would recommend it to anyone seeking modest priced accommodations near the commercial center of the European side of the city.
Great Choice
A comfortable refuge from the chaos of Istanbul
Great choice
Impressive LARESPark
Excellent hotel in Taksim
The hotel has an excellent pool/sauna/turkish bath. The location is great. In the new part of the town - lively!
On the downside, the staff seems a bit junior -not really sophisticated- dealing with customers. They lacked a concierge so when you ask questions about places to eat, etc, they have no clue! If you know where you going then it should be fine - or ask other hotels around.
